It’s been along time coming and I put it off several times already over the past few years but now we’ve finally, seriously started to piece together a wildflower app for the Eastern part of the country. Were hoping to have the app completed for a Spring 2014 release.
That’s a big IF and I won’t be surprised if it’s actually more like Spring 2015. The app once complete should feature roughly 1,200 wildflowers found in the Eastern United States and Canada. This will be the most complete wildflower app going and it’s a huge undertaking which is why were looking for people across the Eastern US and Canada that might like to help id and photograph flowers for the app.
I can’t promise you’ll be famous but I can promise each individual that contributes over 25 species, full image sets of the plant, leaf and flower, will have their own page in the app. Each contributor page will feature an image of the photographer and their own personal bio. If you love the outdoors, own a camera and have a thing for nature you might just be interested in becoming part of what will be the best app for wildflower identification going. Drop us an email mynature@mynatureapps,com we’d love to have you.
Hi,
A friend and I have been going out once a week every week from Spring to Fall to photograph wildflowers forthe past five years now. I currently have almost 700 different ones. My goal was to capture the beauty of the flower, not the complete plant however, therefor I don’t have exactly what you are looking for but if you can use any of my photos in your project, you are welcome to them. I have quitea few on my website but not all of them. You can take a look and if you’d like, I can send you a CD with all 700. Most of them have more than one photo and you can choose the ones that best fit what you are looking for.
If you email me, be sure to put “Wildflowers” in the subject line so I know it’s from you. That is some project you are undertaking there but much needed. Good luck.

Thank you Ed for the offer, I’ll drop you an email. Jeff
Good morning from cool Central Texas. Is there any plans for an app for Texas and the Southwest? I’m a biology teacher and we do a wildflower collection each year. This would be extremely handy.
David,
Thank you for stopping by. I’m currently working on a wildflower app for the Northeast that won’t be ready for another two years if things go smoothly. If it turns out to be a great success then possibly I would try a Western or Southwest app but that would be several years off. One of the biggest problems would be getting images since I’m not based out that way. Licensing images isn’t cost effective based on historical sales of our other apps. I never say never so you may see one someday. Thanks again for stopping by and enjoy that warm weather. Jeff
Good morning!
If you are still looking for wildflower photos I’d be glad to help with the project. Tried to send you an email but it bounced back to me, tried again and still it bounced back. Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheryl
Thank you Cheryl, I just sent you an email reply. : )
We have an extensive collection of wildflower photos (more than 30,000) taken in and around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park since the year 2000. All photos in our collection are cataloged in a searchable database. Image sizes generally 1600×1200 pixels and larger.
Al I sent you an email, not quite sure if you are looking to join our group or not. let me know
Wow Jeff, now that is quite an undertaking for sure. I’ll have a look at my collection to see if I can round up 25 or more different wildflower shots from around the Ottawa area for your app. Trouble that I can maybe see, is that you will already have some of the ones I have, if not all of them. Do you have say, a running list of WF’s you already have? Or even a list of the ones you still need, could be helpful, and updated for your contributors we go along perhaps?
Anyway, Thumbs up on this worthwhile project Jeff and I hope to be helping in the near future. All the best brother.

Hi! Love the idea! I live in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio – any flowers you might be interested in our area? Care to send me the list and I’ll look around for you. We actually have a wildflowers and waterfalls nature tour in our area.
